We would like to give you a further update on the showers.
Your feedback is very useful and is telling us they are much improved since the new parts have been fitted.
We have though also received comments which highlight there are still some problems in the busier periods.
The plumber attended this week to investigate a report of no hot water on Tuesday night. He has looked at the system and advised there is nothing wrong with the system installed, however he also stated the system is not fully fit for purpose.
This of course leaves us with a problem of what we should do!
The plumber tells us some of the problem is of our own making when male members turn on all the showers until they run warm and female members leave the showers running! In both cases the hot water tank empties leaving no water to warm up, the process of heating the tanks takes 45 minutes and under normal circumstances this is sufficient. He advises we should be more patient in the winter & during busy periods, as the club is now experiencing!
We appreciate this is easier said than done but the alternatives will cost the club considerable amounts of money.
The first option is to add an electric shower to each changing room, so at least there is an alternative when they are running cold. We will be getting quotes for this immediately.
The second option is to install a commercial system but we are talking many £1000′s, as it will affect all of the plumbing installation at the club.
At present the committee do not think the situation is serious enough to investigate a replacement system; however we will continue to monitor the system and act if it gets worse.
None of the committee are plumbers so we would like to hear from any member who is willing to take on the project of obtaining recommendations and prices to upgrade/replace the system in the future.
Please keep your feedback coming but also consider the limitations our system has in providing unlimited amounts of hot water in busy periods.
3. AN IDEA FOR A GYM AREA;
The committee are continuously striving for ways to improve and make good use of the facilities at the club.
To this end we would like to poll all members regarding the following. To partition an area between the No1 squash court and the Ladies showers to create a small self contained gym.
This could possibly contain 2 or 3 pieces of substantial aerobic exercise equipment, such as a rower, cross trainer, treadmill and/or possibly an exercise bench. This facility would greatly enhance the facilities available to existing members and certainly encourage new membership.
Please leave a message on our website email facility or let any committee member know whether you consider this a worthwhile addition to our club facilities
For us to keep you updated, your feedback is important to us, so that we make decisions in the best interests of the club as a whole.
Regards
The Committee

In reverse order: 3: All in favour of gym facilities. 2: Shower improvement is urgent due to number 1 – 8 teams of 4 means 32 people wanting showers, plus glass washing, cooking plus heating. Sure you know this. Suggest cheap fixes are expensive in the long run – cannot we have a separate boiler just for the hot water say (or heating) as present set up doesn’t appear to be up to the job. Possibly because I’m getting on, the club seems to be on the chilly side some nights with lukewarm rads.
Regards to all.
Gordon.
