COMMITTEE INFORMATION FOR ALL MEMBERS

Dear Member,
The following information provides an update on the committees work. This includes news on the hot water, mens changing rooms, competitions, social events and future plans to improve the club’s activities.
We have also posted the committee meeting minutes on the club website and the notice board opposite the mini leagues.
Men’s Showers:
The men’s showers have been a constant problem over the last few months and David Cross has been working hard to get them fixed.
We have recently replaced the motorised valve and the booster pump will be renewed in the next week or two.
This follows on from fitting a new Hot Water tank thermostat and replacing the wiring from the old timer in the kitchen.
Water pressure problems have mainly been overcome by increasing the diameter of the supply pipe to the new cold water storage tanks and cleaning of the filters.
On the recent filter cleaning (last week) there was no crud in the four main filters and only a very, very small amount in the JB shower controls.
As you can see there is very little left to replace except the boiler and pressure pump. The pump is being replaced next week and if we still have problems, it’s likely we will need to go to additional heating engineers to provide a report and competitive prices for replacing the boiler-though none of the plumbers who have attended are convinced this is the problem.
The committee appreciates the suggestions members have made which include having back up electric showers, a second boiler for the mens showers, combination boiler; however we are going down the most cost effective route of replacing components which our plumbing contractors are recommending.
Ultimately if this does not work we will review all of your suggestions as part of any future upgrades.
Mens Changing Rooms:
A close second to the showers is the ongoing discussions of the new benches. After the AGM we agreed to purchase two more benches which has been done. The four benches are now sited in the centre of the room to enable all 4 sides to be used.
The committee would like to emphasise this is the agreed layout so it just needs members to place their bags on the top shelves to enable adequate floor space to get changed.
We would also request members do not move the benches to suit themselves as there is a high risk of damage to the new flooring.
Diary of Events:
Nigel Pope is creating an Annual Club Diary which will be posted on the Club website and the notice board. The intention is for all Team games, Club competitions, Social events and other organised events to be recorded to assist members in planning in the Club’s activities.
Handicap League:
I would like to express my appreciation to Ray Grimes for proposing and organising the Friday night Handicap Team competition. This event has been a resounding success and culminates this Friday (9th)with the final round, buffet and presentations to the winners.
The committee has agreed to run another competition from early February hopefully with an expanded 8 teams-so if you are not already participating and would like to join in, just give your name to Kate.
New Year’s Eve:
Andy and Marina Rolfe are organising a New Year’s Eve party at the Clubhouse.
Members,Family, Friends and children are very welcome.

Bar and Refreshments:
The committee has a sub-committee group whose primary role is to look at ways of improving the Club’s activities and facilities.
The first meeting highlighted the bar for introducing additional products to sell.
The first of these improvements will be to add a guest ale each week.
The first of these improvements will be to add a guest ale each week.
We are also looking to create more space behind the bar which will conveniently fit with us looking at the options for replacing the old soft drink machine.
We are looking at best value options for installing a vending machine that will hold both drinks, crisps and confectionary. Installing a larger machine will also provide out of hours facilities for daytime and weekend players.
