This years Club Championship Finals were held at the Club on Saturday 24 April, following a succesful week of matches.
On a well supported ’finals’ Saturday, the gallery were entertained by some terrifc matches culminating in last years Champion Martin Rintoul defending his crown against Dominic Murphy, winning 3-0. The runner -up, himself a previous club champion, had pipped last years finalist Kevin Cupido in a pulsating semi-final the previous night, winning 9-10, 9-7, 9-0, 10-8.
With 29 club members taking part in the annual tournament, the first round threw together some tight encounters with Mark Niel pipping David Nolan 3-2 and Karen Weir defeating John Searles by the same scoreline.
The Plate tournament comprising of players losing in the 1st round Main, saw Aaron Stanley defeat Warren Roe 3-2 in the final, in arguably the game of the day. Aaron who was competing in his first championships, showed resilience and stamina coming through close matches in the early rounds, in similar fashion.
The Over 50′s tournament saw the ladies champion in both the main event with Karen Weir and in the Plate with Becky Czuczman.
